The Columbia River has one the largest Salmon runs in the lower
48 whether you're looking for the hard fighting Chinook or the
aggressive and extremely active Coho Salmon. Columbia River
Sport Fishing will take you on the salmon fishing trip of
a life time.
Bret starts salmon fishing in March along the Columbia River
as Spring Chinook start their migration up the Columbia River.
The Spring Chinook are the highest quality Salmon to enter
the Columbia River system because they don't spawn until fall.
These Salmon have to pack extra fat to keep them alive in
the fresh water. This makes them the finest eating Salmon
you will ever taste.
As spring Salmon fishing start to slow down, Bret moves off
the Columbia River and heads to one of the local tributaries
where he is able to target these Salmon though the first part
of June.
When the Springer bite slows down, Bret heads north to Alaska
where he spends part of June and all of July on the Nushagak
River. The Nushagak River is one of Alaska's premier King Salmon
fisheries with runs exceeding 200,000 King Salmon in a six
week season. These Salmon are all native fish and pound for
pound one the hardest fighting kings you will ever hook. Also,
the Nushagak has a Coho Salmon run that comes on the even
years. This will give some serious action and smiles all the way
around.
Columbia River Chinook starts returning in good numbers
again in August when Bret gets back from Alaska. This time
of year is when you have a chance at the big Kings, some exceeding
40 even 50 pounds. These fish are in the system until almost
Christmas. Contact Columbia River Sport
